One of the best things that Estralians love about traveling is experiencing different cuisine, authentic flavours and also some crazy dishes. During our stay in Pampanga we got to visit so many great places to eat in Angeles City and it would be a shame not to share our experiences with others.
It is long time known that Pampanga – Angeles’ province – is the culinary capital of the Philippines. In Angeles City you can find not only classic Filipino dishes, but also authentic Italian, Indian, Japanese, Korean, (with the biggest Korea town in Philippine we promise you won’t disappoint), German etc. cuisine, just to name a few. So, whether you are just driving through or staying in Angeles City, you should definitely visit at least one of the places listed underneath.
Before you plan your visit to this place you need to know that Dining in Bale Dutung is only available by reservation. Also, as they have minimum number of guest policy it’s not a place to visit just by yourself. However it’s worth making the effort as they serve authentic Kapampangan cuisine prepared by artist-writer-chef, Claude Tayag (Bale Dutung menu).
The restaurant houses three different venues. Silong – an al fresco setting with rare and precious Philippine antiques from kitchen equipment to farm utensils (minimum 12 people). Gallery – an air-conditioned glass enclosed room surrounded with arts by the masters (minimum 8 people). Almazen – Spanish inspired venue where chefs prepare dishes right in front of you (minimum 10 people).
If you are not able to pull off a group dining experience then they have created an alternative restaurant which doesn’t require a minimum number of guests and accepts walk-ins. The name of the restaurant is “DownTown Café”.
Downtown Café is at The Nepo Park in Barangay Sto. Rosario. It serves authentic Kapampangan cuisine with a twist (Downtown menu). This place has a retro-style interior that makes you feel like you’ve traveled back in time.
Downtown café will surely steal your heart with its down-to-earth ambiance and delicious honest food.
Café Fleur is near Nepo Mall in Rosario St, Santo Rosario Barangai. They are famous for their delicious, traditional Kapampangan cuisine. (Café Fleur menu)
Café Fleur consists of 2 different eateries. On the first floor is the Garden Café that serves cakes, smoothies as well as casual food. On the second floor they have “25 Seeds restaurant” where you can enjoy delicious Kapampangan cuisine in a sophisticated and ambient atmosphere. (In the 25 Seeds restaurant they also have private rooms, good for birthdays or business meetings).
When visiting Café Fleur, we dined at the 25 Seeds restaurant. The service was top-notch and the food (Rellenong Bangash and Sous-Vide Chicken) to die for. If you are visiting Angeles and would like to try local food then this is the place…sobrang masarap.
The Veranda Herbs & Spices Restaurant is in Macarthur hwy, Angeles City. It is a casual fine dining restaurant that serves International and Kapampangan-Filipino Cuisine. Although they have À la carte menu, on Friday and Saturday they also offer 499 PHP buffet. and the great thing about their buffet is that the menu changes every week.
The restaurant is set on a rooftop of a 4-story building and has indoor as well as out door seating area. It is an ideal place for a special night out with your love, family or friends. While dining customers can watch a magnificent view of Mt. Arayat and enjoy live music. (Live music is not on every night).
Although everything in the menu is delicious, we recommend trying at least once their buffet dinner. This way you get to experience different dishes and desserts in a moderate price.
Pinatubo Brewing Point is on Yokon Street, near Friendship hwy. They serve authentic German and Swish style food with affordable prices. It is also home of Angeles City only Microbrewery, offering different kind of German Style beer. (Have a look at their menu)
When visiting the brewery, we tasted the Magma Bock and Sunrise Wheat beer. For food we had their Original German style Bratwurst with sauerkraut as well as Swiss style Nürnberger sausage with potato salat. Being Europeans, the food reminded us our home country and Christmas family dinners. We absolutely loved everything we tried and therefore think that it’s a great place to visit if you are after German style food and beer.
Zermatt Swiss restaurant & bakery is ducked away from the busy streets of Angeles City. It is located on the first floor on La Grande Residence, in Barangay Malabanias. The restaurant offers authentic Swiss Food as well as the traditional Philippine cuisine. (Since our last visit they have extended their menu and are now offering Korean cuisine as well).
Beside the ground floor restaurant, they also have two pool side bars. One on the ground floor and the other one on the rooftop. When dining at the restaurant we recommend trying sauerkraut, veal sausages, Pork Adobo, and Apple Strudel. At the rooftop bar go with the club sandwich and chicken satay…yamm.
Every now and then they have different events, like vine tasting, high tea, live music night, buffet experience. (To stay up to date you can follow them in facebook).
Niji is one of the best Japanese restaurants in whole Pampanga. It is located in Don Juico Avenue, Angeles City. This place has an extensive À la carte menu. They offer sashimi, sushi, yakiniku, sukiyaki, teppanyaki, and other Japanese favourites using only authentic fresh ingredients. On top of the main menu they have also affordable lunch sets that are available from 11 am to 2pm, 7 days a week.
While dining at the restaurants main area, you can enjoy watching chefs cook food at the teppanyaki corner. Their main dining area is big enough for large groups but in case you prefer privacy they also have separate dining rooms. (Bear in mind that the service can be a bit slow, when choosing the private areas).
The food is fresh and absolutely 美味しい (delicious).
Little Italy Trattoria is ducked away from the busy streets of Angeles City. It is located in Josefa St, in Barangay Malabanias. They serve a variety of Napoletana dishes like house-made fresh insalata, simply prepared antipasti, tasty pasta, and brick-over pizzas. (Have a look at their menu)
The restaurant has a small (around 8 tables) covered outdoor sitting area with an ambient lighting and good music. The food gets prepared using the finest and freshest ingredients available. Our favorited dish is theirs Prosciutto E Funghi pizza, a truly authentic experience… delizioso.
Jungs Kitchen is located in the busy Koreatown, on Friendship hwy. When visiting Angeles City, one definitely has to visit the Koreatown. It is the biggest one in the Philippines and is packed with different restaurants and bakeries.
Out of all the great restaurants in Koretown, Jungs Kitchen is our favourite. It is a casual restaurant that offers delicious Korean cuisine. The service is friendly and quick and the dining area is clean and well decorated. Our favourite is the samgyeopsal that comes with a large variety of unlimited side dishes…맛있습니다 – yummy 😉
Krishna’s Place is located in S. R. Lim Avenue, Barangay Balibago. It offers vegetarian and non-vegetarian Indian food. Their menu is quite big, so there is someting for everyone.
The restaurant has a great ambience and super friendly staff. The owner, Prem Kumar, who is also the general manager has brought his family recipes to Krishna’s place. Therefore the food is authentic and absolutely divine. Our favourite is their Butter Chicken and Beef Mutton Vindaloo. It’s certainly a must visit place if you are looking for truly good Indian food.
Blanchette’s Deli & Bakery is located in Don Juico Avenue, in front of Clark side gate. They serve freshly made American style sandwiches and burgers along with freshly baked pastries and cakes. They also have a small deli offering a variety of cheese, salami, ham, sausages, etc.
Also, the café is nicely decorated and can fit around 20 people. Although they have a small selection of main dishes in their menu, the main focuse in on breakfast and lunch items. (Opening hours 8am-6pm).
When visiting Blanchette’s we recommend trying the Cheese Burger and Pulled Pork Sandwich. For dessert try their delicious éclair or chocolate mousse…masarap.
Mr Parks is located at Barangay Anunas, in Friendship hwy. They serve fresh, daily baked breads and cakes as well as coffee and smoothies.
The place itself is like any other bake shop. However the difference is that they also have a outside sitting area. So pile up your tray with all the goodies and enjoy them while zipping away your favourite kind of smoothie or coffee.
They have so many different types of pastries, cakes and savory pies that choosing just one is impossible. For example our top choices are the Cream Puffs, Egg Tarts and Almond Croissants with marzipan filling…sooo #delishious.
Toll House has many branches all around Angeles City. Their main branch is located near Rosary Parish Church, in Sto. Rosario Street. Toll house is well known for its good food, pastries and cakes. (Have a look at their menu)
Although we can’t comment their food, we can vouch for their cakes. For instance we ordered our 6-year anniversary cake from them and it was just perfect.
Toll house is a great place if you need to order cakes or delicious party trays. The main shop also has a function hall where they can cater different kind of events like birthdays etc. (The hall seats 50 to 80 person).
